Boots, Buckles and Body Shape

You

probably buy clothes to flatter your body shape, but do you keep the same concept in mind when you buy boots? Whether you’re showing off your legs or not, it’s important to explore exactly what boots work best for your frame, as the wrong choice can make your usually sleek sticks appear shorter and heavier in an instant.

Take into consideration your body size and frame, as well as that of your feet, when choosing what shoes to wear with an outfit. The colour, height and style of the shoe are vital as they work to create the optical illusion that can either glam you up or frump you down.

Knee high boots:

When it comes to women’s boots, the knee high is a universal favourite as it not only flatters most body shapes but it makes legs look great too. If your aim is to elongate your leg to the max, then choose a knee high boot with little or no detail – make sure they fit your leg snugly all the way up too. If you’ve got short legs, avoid eye catching details like straps and buckles, as these details will only work to make your leg appear shorter to the eye. To glam your look up get a pair of heeled boots, which will add height and length – but to dress down during the day, a flat heeled boot will work wonders just the same.

Calf length boots: These work well for those with slim calves as they add an appearance of width and shape to thin legs – by cutting across the leg mid-calf, you’ll automatically make your calves appear fuller and shapelier. It’s important to get the right size so that the top of the boot doesn’t gape. These boots are great with a point and as before, a heel will add the appearance of length.

Ankle boots:
Ankle boots cut your leg off at the ankle and create an instant wider appearance, so they might not be the best choice if you are short. To remedy this though, you can pair the same colour ankle boot and tights or skinny jeans to create a longer line. If you’re tall, you can wear ankle boots with almost anything, from jeans to mini dresses, as they work to make legs appear curvier.

Choose your boot length, colour and style with care when considering what to wear this winter and you’ll look and feel spectacular. If you’re still unsure, try on as many pairs as possible and get opinions before you buy boots – this way you can be sure that they’ll work for you.
